Hmm, there are familiar names in the award committee. Only names, please note. Also note that Don Knuth's name is prominently absent in the list of previous winners :-(
Bill Gates was a nominee in 1999, but Miguel de Icaza beat the crap out of Billy. (Damn, Miguel beat the good professor too...) The Microsoft dude was incredulous when I talked of this. We were fighting the catfight of our lives (of my life at least - never again, I swear) in a mailing list then :-)
